This week the Sangkhlaburi, Thailand team visited the village of Sampan Rai to have a meeting with the village leader. We discussed the various ways in which the Starfish volunteers could help and assist the village and spoke about introducing a possible medical program.
We spoke more about the small community of Sampan Rai, a village that has only around 50 people! The small village has one hut which they use as a school and, even more surprising, the village only has one toilet!
We are hoping to do some good things for the village and we will continue our assessment.
Also this past weekend we witnessed a wonderful celebration for the opening of the new bridge in Sangkhlaburi. The bridge in Sanghlaburi is extremely important to the town as it provides a vital way to get around.
The bridge celebration included beautiful fireworks which, although they weren’t spectacular by Bangkok or London standards, they were still the talk of the town.
Until next time – Smithy
