Hello from Koh Samui!
After the Christmas/New year break, The Starfish team here in Koh Samui got back into the swing of things by welcoming our first volunteers of 2015. Everyone was excited to be in the sun, sea and sand – especially the volunteers who had just come from cold winters in Europe!
One of our volunteers, Napat, was returning to his native home of Thailand. Napat loved being back, and was so helpful and friendly – helping the other volunteers order food and speak to the locals. He also became a bit of a celebrity at the school where he was volunteering, because he could speak to the students in English and Thai!
The lessons this week were so much fun, and the children so eager to learn. The volunteers even took time during their lunch break to help teach some of the students to play Ukulele, with the help of project coordinator, and Ukulele maestro, Siam!
Also in the week we took part in a pretty darn hard pub quiz against some of the locals…. We didn’t come last! Ha ha
Another evening we ate ‘hot pot’. This is where you cook the food yourself at the table in a large boiling pot. There were noodles and veg and THE best and freshest seafood you could get.
Stay tuned for more Koh Samui updates! There is never a dull moment in paradise!
