Hey everyone! Some of our lovely volunteers recently got to spend some time up close and personal with some elephants in Surin, Thailand here’s what they got up to.
Elephants can be really lazy (don’t worry its not just us humans) sometimes, so its really important for them to get some exercise in their day. Our volunteers joined the local mahouts to take the elephants out for an early morning stroll.
Baby elephant really loves to go exploring and wandering.
After a long walk the elephants need to recharge their energy by getting some lunch. Elephants as you may well know can eat a LOT. Our volunteers went about gathering the finest sugar cane they could find to feed their huge appetites.
And in to the trucks it all goes! Plenty of nutritious food for the elephants.
Lunchtime! For all their effort the elephants deserve a reward. Our volunteers were able to feed the elephants by hand. They just love eating and never know when to stop!
As much as they love to eat they do make quite a bit of mess in the process. Thankfully our brilliant volunteers were around to sweep up.
What an experience and what a day! One that we are sure our volunteers will never ever forget! Our elephant-volunteering projects gives everyone the opportunity to get close to these amazing creatures and really get to know them, feed them, bathe them and take care of them.
