Arrival and Departure Information

Fly into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) where you’ll be met by one of our friendly greeters and taken to your starting accommodation in the city. There are no activities planned for today, apart from a welcome meeting this evening, so arrive whenever suits you best. However, please note that airport transfers are only available between 6 am and 10 pm. If you arrive outside these hours, or at Bangkok’s smaller airport (Don Muang), you will need to take a taxi to your hotel, which is very easy to arrange.

You will need to arrange your own transfer back to the airport for your flight home. The most common option for travelling back to Bangkok from the islands is a combination of ferry and bus. There are also internal flights available from Krabi. More detailed instructions will be provided after booking, and your travel adviser or guide will be able to help you with any onward travel. Please make sure you allow enough time for travel and to make connections. We always recommend that you give yourself more time than you think you need, just in case there are cancellations or delays.

Eight-night accommodation is included on this trip. You’ll stay in traditional Thai guesthouses in twin-share rooms – which is perfect if you’re travelling as a couple. All accommodation includes air-conditioning, WIFI access and western-style private bathrooms.

Please note: In some of the hotels along the way, you may be asked to pay a security deposit of £15 - £20. This is standard practice across Thailand. This is fully refundable on departure, as long as there’s no damage to your room.

Some meals are included on this trip. You will, however, have the flexibility to eat when and where you want, which is a really important part of your cultural experience. Thailand is a foodie’s dream, with affordable restaurants on every corner and some of the best street-food in the world.

Minimum age requirement and Eligibility for the 9-Day Thailand Wellness Trip

You must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for this trip. British passport holders arriving by land or air can enter Thailand for 30 days without a visa. If you need to stay longer, it’s possible to extend your stay once, for up to 30 days.  If you plan to stay in Thailand longer than 30 days, to work or use land borders regularly, you must get a visa before you travel. Visa rules are subject to change. It’s your responsibility to ensure that information is valid at the time of travel.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months following your date of entry to Thailand. Entry is usually refused if you have a passport which is damaged or has pages missing. Immigration officials may ask you for proof of onward travel (e.g. a return or onward air ticket) or adequate finances. You may also need a yellow fever certificate.

We want to do everything we can to ensure you have an enjoyable stay in Thailand. An important part of this means staying safe, so here are some things to be aware of before you travel:

  • Vaccinations – Thailand is very safe indeed, but as with any hot and humid country there are health risks and viruses that we may not be used to back at home. Contracting anything is very rare, but it’s always best to check with experts before you travel to get the latest and most up to date medical advice. Visit your local travel clinic or your local doctor before travelling to check if you do need any vaccinations or medication.
*We suggest doing this as far in advance as you can, as some courses of vaccinations can take several weeks to complete*
  • Food – Trying the local food is always a fun part of travelling, but it’s common to have the odd upset stomach within the first few days, as your body adjusts to the climate and different foods you may not be used to. Generally, it’s important to keep hydrated, keep your energy levels up and make sure you eat well and enough.
  • Water – Tap water is not safe to drink so please only drink bottled or filtered water. It’s very easy to buy bottled water throughout Thailand and it’s very cheap too.
  • Alcohol – Please drink in moderation. Remember that it’s very easy to become dehydrated, especially in the heat of Thailand, and so your tolerance to alcohol may be lower than normal.
  • Drugs – Extremely strict drug laws for possession or use. The penalties are severe. Drug use of any kind is not tolerated on any of our experiences.
  • Motorbikes – Riding a moped or motorbike is a common way for locals to travel around, and motorbike taxis are commonplace. Renting a motorbike when traveling through Thailand may look fun, but the fact is that it’s incredibly dangerous and Thailand does in fact have one of the highest road traffic accident fatality rates in the world.
We strongly recommend you avoid using motorbikes at all costs.
  • Crime levels are no different to at home, and so please be as cautious as you would at home. Don’t leave your belongings on show or unaccompanied, and please don’t ‘show off’ your spending money.
