The Voluntour is a fantastic way to travel the real Thailand and at the same time give something back to the local communities.
Spending time with elephants, and helping the communities with renovation is a unique opportunity to see the road less travelled.
After an action packed experience, what better way to finish than visiting Thailand’s famous snorkelling and diving hotspots in Koh Tao, and Koh Phangan, a mecca for all backpackers.
Day 1 – Arrival day. Meet your fellow travellers and our dedicated team, enjoy the sights and sounds of Bangkok
Day 2 – Orientation and Bangkok Tour. A great day sightseeing and then spend an evening on the famous Khao San Road
Day 3 – Transfer to Surin. Sit back and enjoy the journey! Be sure to take plenty of photos as you watch the Thai countryside go by.
Day 4 – 7 – Renovation Project. For the next four days you will be volunteering at a local school or community in need of a helping hand, doing hands-on renovation work with our local team. Projects can include things like painting or construction, and start in the morning and finish in the afternoon depending on the daily task.
Day 8 - 10 – Free Time. Now that you’ve completed your renovation project, you have time for the next couple of days to relax and explore the rest of Surin!
Day 11 – 14 - The Elephant Experience begins. Get ready for your transfer to the elephant village, where for the next 4 days and 3 nights you will live, work and play alongside a real elephant community on the rural outskirts of Surin. Here you can help gather food for the elephants, bathe them in the river on hot days, and go kayaking in your free time. On your final day you’ll also get to visit the market on the way back to Surin main town, where you will be staying for one night before your transfer back to Bangkok.
Day 15 – Travel to Bangkok. The team will set you on your way for the coach journey to Bangkok. You will be given your hotel booking and money for the taxi transfer to your accommodation on Khaosan road.
Day 16 – Transfer to Koh Tao. After a day free to explore Bangkok, check in at the Lomprayah coach desk one hour before your departure time for your overnight coach to Koh Tao. Our team will have already explained where the Lomprayah check in desk is at the original welcome and orientation.
The journey is in two stages, and the Lomprayah gets you from coach to ferry, and onto Koh Tao.
Day 17- 21 – Koh Tao. A morning arrival on a beautiful island where you can choose to laze on the beach, book a snorkel trip or take an Open Water PADI course. There is plenty to keep you busy!
