One week working with elephants or teaching and another week on a world famous island…
Looking for a big adventure but short on time? Our two week Thailand voluntour might be just what you are looking for. Touch down in Thailand and spend your first week working on our incredible elephant project or at our rewarding teaching project – the choice is yours.
You’ll see plenty of sights along the way including traditional Thai temples, a huge golden Buddha, street vendors and more. Experience the bustling metropolis that is Bangkok, and a more traditional Thai way of life whilst at your chosen project. It will be an adventure you will never forget!
Your second week will involve being whisked away to a tropical island paradise where you can live it up or slow it down. Koh Phangan is famous for it’s lively parties and beautiful beaches, so however you decide to spend your time you can be sure of this: you’ll be having the time of your life!

Freedom in Paradise.
Koh Phangan is one of the most popular islands in South East Asia – known for its cheap drinks, beautiful waters and soft sand. This island is one of Asia’s biggest party destinations and there are plenty of places to let loose and celebrate life as the sun goes down. And what about during the day? If you’re a fan of sun, sand and sea then you’ll feel right at home on Koh Phangan. Soak up the sun, stretch your toes out in the sand and go looking for schools of fish in the clear warm waters – paradise doesn’t get any better than this!
Unlike many of our other experiences, our two week Thailand voluntour is unguided so you will have all the freedom you could want. Of course you’re not entirely on your own; our team will help you to get around and there will be coordinators at your volunteer project. However, you won’t have a guide for when you are off exploring or living the island life. But then, we’re sure that you don’t need us to show you how to party!
DAY 1 – ARRIVE IN BANGKOK
Fly in to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport and one of our friendly guides will be waiting to meet you. Once everyone has arrived your guide will take you to your guest house on the famous Khao San Road.
Drop off your things and then go out to explore the area and get your first proper taste of Bangkok. Later in the evening the group will meet up to eat, drink and get to know each other.
DAY 2 – BANGKOK TOUR
On your second day in Bangkok you will get to experience our action-packed Bangkok Tour. You will be taken to see some of the city’s most famous landmarks, such as Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn), the Reclining Buddha, the Grand Palace, a ride on a long boat, a floating market and more!
DAY 3 – TRANSFER TO SURIN
An early start ensures that you are going to have a fun-filled day. Grab some breakfast and then head out to catch the train where you will take an interesting 7 hour journey through Thailand. You’ll have a guide accompany you on your journey too.
On occasion you may transfer by coach instead of the train which takes about 6 hours.
DAY 4-6 – PROJECT TIME
Your group will split depending on the project you have chosen – elephants or teaching – and you will head off to the project.
Our teachers will be picked up at around 7:45am and will be teaching for around 4 hours a day. There will be a guide/member of staff there to assist you and offer you any advice you might find helpful. Then, at around 2:30pm you will be transferred back to the volunteer house to relax, explore or socialise.
Those who choose to work at our elephant project will be picked up at around 7:45am and taken to the elephant village. Here you will meet with the mahouts who have lived with the elephants as part of their families for generations and get to know your new long-nosed friends. For the next few days you’ll live without WiFi and instead get up close and very personal with the elephants.
DAY 7 – PROJECT WORK
If you chose to teach, you’ll be at school today.
Travellers on our elephant project will transfer back into Surin town around mid-afternoon.
DAY 8 – BACK TO BANGKOK
Both groups will leave Surin mid-morning and transfer by coach back to Khao San Road in Bangkok. At this point your guide will say a short & sweet goodbye and you will then enjoy the rest of your trip unaccompanied. You will have been given all the information you need for the next few days and our 24/7 emergency help line is always available should you need it.
DAY 9 – FREE TIME AND TRANSFER TO THE BEACH
Take the day to explore Bangkok – there is so much to see, do, taste and hear in the city that you are certain to discover an interesting way to spend your free time. Later that evening you will check out of your hotel and head to the coach pick up point (a short 3 minute walk from your hotel), you’ll then transfer overnight to Koh Phangan.
DAY 10 – THE BEACH
You’ll arrive at Koh Phangan in the morning and your accommodation providers will be waiting there to pick you up. Your hotel is close to the beach and has it’s own pool – so why not relax and unwind for a while? Once you are done relaxing you can explore the island or head out to party!
DAY 11-13 – THE BEACH
You’ll have plenty of free time to make the most of everything the island has to offer; maybe you want to go snorkelling, take a yoga class, go cafe or bar hopping or get a traditional Thai massage? The world is your oyster!
DAY 14 – BACK TO BANGKOK
An early morning check out and transfer to the pier, then take the ferry and coach back to Bangkok. You’ll arrive back in Bangkok in the evening and will check back into your Khao San Road hotel. One final night on the legendary Khao San Road to end your trip of a lifetime.
